The ‘Falls the Shadow’ short film screened at the Antipodean Film Festival at  St Tropez Nov 2010, the NZ Arts Channel, and  was one of the three documentaries in ‘The New Zealanders on the Western Front: 3 Documentaries’, screened for the commemoration of the Battle of Passchendaele anniversary.

On ANZAC Day 2012 it was screened as one of 4 documentaries (with WW1 documentaries by Robyn Malcolm, David Blyth and Gaylene Preston) at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, and at cinemas around New Zealand.

Falls the Shadow’ Soundscape composed by Andrew McMillan using sounds of clay from the battlefield being worked in the studio and WW1 equipment (shovels as gongs and shell cases as a wind sound. The Soundscape accompanies the ‘Falls the Shadow’ exhibition

1945                Born Dunedin

Education: Otago Girls High School, Dunedin.
Otago Polytechnic Classes in design, painting and sculpture

1963-5             Otago University Consumer and Applied Sciences. This included a three year Art History and Design Course

1966                Post graduate Dip. Teaching. Auckland Secondary Teachers’ College

1967                Teaching Papakura High School

1968                Teaching Taupo nui a Tia College

1968                Child rearing (four children)

Interest in painting and ceramic maintained by attendance at weekend schools and night classes.

Relief teaching and night class tutoring      

1974-75           Residency in Suva, Fiji

1981                Attended classes and workshops at Auckland Studio Potters. Participated in four collaborative art installations

1985                Began exhibiting. Set up own studio. Began full-time work as an artist.
Became a member of Pots of Ponsonby Co-operative Gallery, Auckland

1995                Won joint 1st prize in the Winstones ’Ties that Bind’ National Craft Competition organised by the NZ Craft Council and the Wellington City Art Gallery (travelling exhibition).
